Shelfo

Terms of Service

Last updated 17 September 2026

Shelfo turns writing you bring — your own notes, an article, a PDF — into an audiobook on your iPhone. These are the terms you agree to by using it.

Your account

Shelfo uses Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for the Apple ID you sign in with; keep it to yourself. One account is meant for one person.

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account. What that removes, and what it does not, is set out in the Privacy Policy.

What you bring is yours

Anything you write or import stays yours. We claim no ownership of it, we do not read it, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to train anything. If you turn on backup, you are giving us only the permission needed to hold your books and give them back to you on another device.

The app itself, its artwork and its code remain ours.

Bring only what you have the right to

Shelfo will read out whatever you give it, which makes what you give it your responsibility. Import only material you wrote, own, or are allowed to make a personal copy of, and keep the audio it makes for yourself. Do not use Shelfo to reproduce or distribute someone else's book, article or document, and do not import anything unlawful.

Copyright law in most places allows a personal copy for your own use and nothing more. Shelfo is built for that, and an account used otherwise can be closed.

What Shelfo is, and what it is not

The voice is produced by a speech model running on your phone. It is good, and it is not a narrator: names, numbers, foreign words and unusual spellings will sometimes come out wrong, and a badly scanned page will be read as badly as it was scanned. Check anything that matters against the text.

Conversion takes time and uses the phone's processor and battery. How long depends on the length of the book and on your device.

Shelfo Pro

Shelfo is free to use with one book on the shelf, one voice, and writing your own text. Shelfo Pro removes the limit on books, opens every voice, allows importing from links and files, and turns on backup.

Pro is sold as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase, through the App Store. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel, and the price and renewal date are shown to you by Apple before you buy. Cancelling is done in your Apple ID settings, and takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple under their terms, not by us.

If a free trial is offered, it becomes a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel before then.

We may change what Pro costs or what it includes. A change in price never applies to a period you have already paid for, and the app will say so before it takes effect.

Fair use

Please do not tamper with the app or its data to unlock what you have not paid for, and do not try to reach other people's accounts. Either can cost you your account.

Interruptions

Shelfo keeps your books on the phone first, so the shelf works with no signal at all. The account and backup side may be unavailable at times and we cannot promise it is never down. We do not promise the app is free of faults, and it is provided as it is. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or incidental losses arising from using Shelfo — including lost books or audio, however they were lost. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Ending it

You can stop using Shelfo and delete your account whenever you like. We may close an account that breaks these terms, and we will say why unless we are prevented from doing so.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them, and the app will tell you before the change takes effect. Carrying on using Shelfo after that means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and any dispute will be heard there.
